I hope you have enjoyed looking at my photographs of these very special birds. I live in Southern California, so I am lucky enough to have hummingbirds visit my feeders all year long. The hummingbird species that I see most are the Anna's Hummingbird, the Rufous Hummingbird, the Allen's Hummingbird, the Broad-tailed Hummingbird, the Costas Hummingbird and the Black-chinned Hummingbird. There is much to learn from the hummingbirds as I watch them come and go and fight over the feeders. I have six hummingbird feeders and at the busiest times I will have over fifty hummingbirds at once. It can get quite hectic. Because the birds are right there on my balcony, I can use different backgrounds for my pictures. The background you see is the actual background of when the picture was taken. I try to catch the hummingbirds going through different aspects of their day. They seem to be very smart and appear to have a GPS device in their brain in order to come back to the same place all the time. My friends say that I am the only person on the planet who buys flowers for my hummingbirds. They are wonderful subjects and I am honored to be able to photograph them.
